NICKELBACK Frontman Launches 604 RECORDS
June 26, 2002NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger has joined forces with NICKELBACK's longtime attorney Jonathan Simkin to form his very own record label.
Dubbed 604 Records, the imprint's goal will be to "seek out and develop undiscovered talent in the music world not only in North America, but globally," according to an official press release.
The label will be distributed in the US by NICKELBACK's American home, Roadrunner Records, while the Canadian distribution will be handled by Universal Music Canada, Roadrunner's distributor in that region.
Kroeger and Simkin had previously worked together to help break Canadian rock band DEFAULT, whose single, "Wasting My Time" has been a huge hit on both sides of the border. Kroeger produced and co-wrote on DEFAULT's debut and Simkin managed the business end of it all while Kroeger was on the road with NICKELBACK.
Since then, 604 Records has been established and the first act to be officially signed to the label is one of Kroeger's own proteges, THEORY OF A DEAD MAN. Their debut will hit stores on September 17th, with the first single, "Nothing Could Come Between Us", going for radio adds next month.
Said Simkin about the new company: "Chad and I are doing something we are passionate about and truly enjoy. We both feel lucky and blessed to have this opportunity. Not only do we get to directly participate in the production and development of new talent, but we get to explore and participate in both the creative and business aspects of the music business. It is extremely rewarding."
